Country Music Star Joey Canyon Announces Deal With RFD-TV To Debut His New TV Variety Series

Denver, CO – The Joey Canyon Show is coming to cable’s RFD Television in early 2016, it was revealed today by veteran country music star / personality Joey Canyon. RFD-TV will debut

Canyon’s exciting new half-hour country music and variety television program, which is hosted by Canyon and co-hosted by country music artist and producer Dean Miller, son of country music star Roger Miller.

The weekly show, which will originate out of Colorado – – “where the music meets the mountains” – – says Canyon, will feature performances by A-list country artists as well as star interviews from Denver and Nashville. Artists who have already been interviewed for the show include such country music chart toppers as Kix Brooks (Brooks and Dunn), Pam Tillis, Lorrie Morgan, and the award-winning band Highway 101. Canyon is also signing other top country artists for the show’s first season.

Describing his new venture into television, Mr. Canyon emphasized, “We are a contemporary version of a ‘traditional old time variety show.’ Our show is ‘music-driven’ but will also include man-on-the-street interviews, guest appearances by well-known sports figures, and more. It’s a cross between The Dean Martin Show, The Jackie Gleason Show, The Glen Campbell Hour, and a dash of Hee-Haw.”

“I’m hoping the ‘The Joey Canyon Show’ is going to be an exciting representation of the country music tradition,” says co-host Dean Miller.

Kelly Kantz, GM/Senior VP of Programming commented further:
Canyon says The Joey Canyon Show will be produced and shot in Denver, the first of its kind to be created and produced in Colorado. “We want to kind of meld Nashville and Hollywood together and let it come out of Denver as a musically wholesome show,” says Canyon. “We want to put Denver on the map that way. This is not a Hollywood glitz product. We want to be different. We want to make our own mark in Colorado.”

Curtis Stone, co-founder and award-winning bass player for the groundbreaking country group Highway 101, is the show’s music director, “in a kind of Paul Shaffer capacity,” he says. “I think the show’s going to be cool,” Stone adds. “It’s country-driven, an old-school style country show being re-grooved for contemporary audiences. It’s going to cover all the bases of old and new country.”
