On a sleek, brightly lit sound stage in Centennial, country music singer Joey Canyon watches the crew of his TV show trade instruments and jokes. Director Jim Phelan has joined Canyon’s eight-piece backing band, the Blistered Keisters, pretending to strum an acoustic guitar while a pair of backup singers pantomime drums and pedal steel.
